ISE Undergraduates Take Disney by Storm
IISE Board Attends Annual Conference in California
Disneyland is marketed as the happiest place on earth and it did not disappoint our IISE executive board and faculty members. The board attended the 2016 IISE Annual Conference and Expo in sunny Anaheim, California May 20, 2016 – May 25, 2016. Salman Ammoun represented the Great Lakes Region with his paper entitled, “Emergency Room Department Wait Time Reduction Through Lean”. Although he did not earn honors, he placed 5th among some very tough competition from students from various U.S. institutions, Canada, Mexico and South America. While victory alluded us, he made Wayne State and the Great Lakes Region proud.
It was not “all work and no play” as the students were able to visit many tourist attractions (Disney amusement theme park, downtown Disney, Kodak Stadium and the Meatpacking District to name a few) and taste some infamous cuisine (i.e. Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles and the famous In and Out Burgers); again, we were not disappointed. Of course a trip to Disney would not be complete without taking photographs with Mickey, Minnie and other favorite Disney characters and the students did not have a shortage of opportunities. Our students departed California with a wealth of new knowledge and newly formed friendships
Our students have already began to prepare for the 2017 Great Lakes Regional Conference at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where we once again expect our students to present work that will rival all others. It’s always a great time to be an IE!
