"DETROIT - To play running back, it takes a tremendous amount of vision and focus on the field.

Brent Murray knows this well.

The all-time leader in career rushing yards at Petoskey, he had everything it takes to succeed at the position on the field in high school.

Now, thanks to an off field vision for himself past graduation, Murray has the opportunity to prove himself at the next level as well, as he'll attend Wayne State University as a preferred walk-on for the football team.

Already set on pursuing mechanical engineering at Wayne State, Murray had a one-on-one with Warrior head coach Paul Winters to discus the potential of spot on the team.

The conversation didn't last long.

"I went down to talk to coach Winters and then it pretty much just came up, he said 'you have a spot on the team,' right away," said Murray. "It was a shock. I wasn't expecting it. I was going to ask if I had a chance to walk on. But he said 'you've got a preferred walk-on, if you want.'"
