H.R. Lissner Research Day is designed to showcase the exceptional biomedical research occurring throughout Wayne State University.  Presentations are accepted from all majors to demonstrate the broad areas of biomedical expertise and innovation being incubated at one of the nation's 50 largest public universities, with Michigan's most diverse student body.

Prof. Herbert R. Lissner first established the Bioengineering Center at WSU as the Biomechanics Research Center in the Department of Engineering Mechanics.  In 1963, the Bioengineering Center was chartered by the Board of Governors of Wayne State University and appointed Professor Lissner as its first director. Professor Lissner is an internationally recognized authority and a pioneer in the field of biomechanics and his publications have become the most important source of knowledge in the field of impact biomechanics.
