Wayne State University partners with select universities to offer a 3+2 program. Students enrolled in this program study for three years at their home university, earning a bachelor's degree upon completion, and then study at Wayne State for two years to earn a master's degree.
To enroll in the 3+2 program, you must meet all the academic and legal requirements of both your home institution and Wayne State and apply. Scholarship opportunities are available for up to five entering students per semester per university.
- Currently be enrolled in a participating 3+2 university and have completed three years of undergraduate study with a specialization in an engineering discipline or computer science
- Have a minimum 2.75/4.0 GPA
- Submit a minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 550 written or 79 online or IELTS of 6.5 or Duolingo English score of 125.
How to apply
Fill out the Graduate Admissions Application
Select the term you are applying for and answer the following questions about your birth and citizenship status. Select "Continue".
Select the Graduate Program you are interested in from the drop-down menu.
Enter your Personal Background: name, personal information and address.
Complete the information on the Citizenship tab
In the "Academic History" tab, identify the name of your current university. You will be prompted with another pop up box.
For "Degree" select "Bachelor of Science" from the drop down menu.
For "Graduation Date" please select a date prior to the start of the term you are applying for. For example, if you are applying for Fall 2021, select June 2021.
You can leave the "Grade Point Average on a 4.0 Scale" box empty. Below is an example of what to enter if you are applying for the Fall 2021 semester:
Next, you will be given a temporary user name and password and will be brought to a page where you can upload your documents.
Please upload a copy of your transcripts and a TOEFL or IELTS or Duolingo English score if you have taken this test. 3+2 students are not required to submit the WES/3rd party transcript evaluation. However, the Graduate School requires that students send a translated final bachelor's degree-posted transcript directly from the institution once the student completes their bachelor degree requirements.
In the Program Checklist Items tab, there is a question that states "How did you first learn about this program?". Please indicate that you are a 3+2 student.

All international applicants on F-1 visas must provide a financial guarantee to show evidence that they have sufficient funds available for their studies before the application can be processed. Students participating in our 3+2 program are eligible to receive $3,000 per term (up to 4 terms) while completing the M.S. degree.
I-20 and visa information
Upon admission into Wayne State University, an I-20 will be mailed to you from Wayne State. Students should receive their I-20 in the mail within 2-3 weeks of admission.
Students are responsible for applying for their visa at their nearest U.S. Consulate.
Official document language
