Let WSU students help transform your data into insights

Wayne State University is seeking organizations that are interested in sponsoring a practicum project in the 2019 spring/summer semester for its interdisciplinary Master of Science in Data Science and Business Analytics (MSDSBA) program.

As part of the program’s curriculum, practicum students gain hands-on experience while working with a partner organization or company to support the development of big data and analytics solutions.

Guided by faculty experts, student teams utilize state-of-the-art big data tools and platforms along with data science and analytics techniques to develop effective proof-of-concept solutions to assist partners with their big data initiatives.

Practicum sponsor benefits include:

  • High Impact Project Results: Team projects consist of highly-visible data science and business analytics challenges with both engineering and business components. A successful team project is one that will add value to your organization, potentially resulting in a significant return on your company's investment and improving its competitive advantage.
  • Minimal Investment: Sponsorship will provide access to a high-performance team of 3-4 students that will typically work 35 hours/week on campus and on site along with access to faculty experts for a nominal cost of $10k.
  • Early Recruiting Opportunities: Team projects help with your recruiting efforts, giving you early access to our bright and talented students. Once a team has been assembled, team projects provide a highly effective evaluation and recruitment environment.
  • No Long-Term Commitment: Teams will work closely with the sponsoring organization throughout the project. Once complete, teams will hand off the project by delivering all the code sets and tools along with a final presentation to the sponsoring organization.

Put our data-smart Warriors to work for you by submitting a project proposal today! For more information, contact MSDSBA Program Manager Nikki Taylor-Vargo at nikkitv@wayne.edu.
