Freshman

▢  Log in to Handshake & meet with Career Services
       Schedule an appointment with Career Services staff.

▢  Prepare your résumé
       Don't forget to utilize the Helpful Resources section on the Career Resource Center web page.

▢  Get involved in student organizations, volunteer and/or work on campus!
        Visit doso.wayne.edu to learn more.

Sophomore

▢  Begin researching internships and co-ops
       Use Handshake to get started.

▢  Make sure your classes align with your internship/co-op plan
       Talk to your advisor and Career Services for assistance

▢  Attend a co-op information session

▢  Attend career fairs, employer information sessions, networking and alumni events
       Make sure you're always checking Handshake and your email for event updates.

Junior

▢  Revise your résumé
       Remember to add engineering projects you've worked on in class and any student organizations, volunteer experiences or other involvement. 

▢  Update your Handshake account with your new résumé

▢  Begin your search for internships, co-ops or research opportunities
       Use Handshake, career fairs and our Career Center for help.

▢  Attend career fairs, employer information sessions, networking and alumni events
       Make sure you're always checking Handshake and your email for event updates.

▢  Apply for internships/co-ops
       Use Handshake to get started.

▢  Register your co-op
       If you're doing a co-op, don't forget to meet with Career Services to register.

Senior

▢  Add your internship/co-op experience to your résumé
       Don't forget to update Handshake so employers know your new skills.

▢  Request letters of recommendation and/or references from your internship/co-op supervisors and team
       This is a great addition to your professional portfolio.

▢  Begin looking for a full-time job
       Utilize Handshake, career fairs, networking events and Career Services to help you find a job after graduation.

▢  See how you can get involved after you graduate to help current students with their career development
       Don't forget to check in with the Alumni Association.

▢  Stay active on Handshake and campus
       Keeping Handshake up-to-date will allow you to search for future jobs or even recruit students to your company.
