Message from the chair
Dear ISE students, faculty, alumni and friends,
Thank you for visiting the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering website. We have an exciting year ahead with record increases in enrollment at all levels in the department. I am happy to report that the ISE undergraduate program has been re-accredited by ABET for another six years and our graduate program has successfully undergone its six-year review by external reviewers from Virginia Tech and Purdue University. The ISE Department provides its students with many academic opportunities, and assists our students with finding the careers that make a difference in our surrounding world. With an outstanding faculty dedicated to research and lifelong learning, the department enjoys solid relationships across many industries including health care, automotive, military and more. ISE students have the potential to find interesting projects, research and internships through our programs such as the Production Management Leadership Program, as well as our real-world applicable capstone courses.
The faculty in the ISE Department has established research strengths in areas such as supply chain management, freight logistics, product design, product life-cycle modeling, end-of-life product value recovery, sustainability, business analytics and big data, healthcare systems engineering, and smart engineering systems. A National Science Foundation (NSF) Center for e-Design has been established in ISE. This NSFCenter for e-Design conducts research in fundamental science, mathematics and engineering principles in the development of new products and systems. The main focus of the center is to create new tools, processes and methodologies that will assist in generating higher quality products at lower costs, while also reducing the time associated with complex engineered products and systems. ISE provides many research opportunities for our students across all degree programs.
Please take the time to review our programs, and always feel free to reach out to one of our friendly faculty or staff members. We look forward to exceeding your expectations, and assisting you in your future successes. You can also stop by at my office or email me should you need any additional information about our programs.
