Kim is a passionate environmental project manager for General Motors (GM) with over 30 years of experience directing site remediation strategies for large complex sites.  She is a strong leader demonstrating honesty, integrity, technical competence, emotional intelligence and effective communication with regulatory agencies, city officials and community stakeholders. A native Detroiter, her passion for Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) began in the Detroit Public School Community District (DPSCD) while attending Cass Technical High School, graduating from the Architectural, Civil, Construction Technology Curriculum. 

While at Wayne State University (WSU), Kim was an active member holding leadership positions in the Association of Black Engineers and Applied Scientists (ABEAS), now National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE); a teacher for the Upward Bound Program; and, a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society and the David Mackenzie Honor Society (now Irvin D. Reid Honor Society). Kim also participated in the WSU Cooperative Education Program working for Bechtel Power Corporation and the Army Corps of Engineers.

A career highlight while working for GM was managing the $100 M remediation and redevelopment of the 88-acre abandoned industrial site and converting it into GM’s first golf course – a public, scenic, regulation nine-hole golf course with miniature golf and clubhouse.  Kim received recognition from the Mayors of Clark and Cranford, New Jersey for working cooperatively with agencies, and local communities and was presented with a plaque “With Gratitude for Your Commitment to Excellence in Creating the Hyatt Hills Golf Course”.  Hyatt Hills Golf Course received the Environmental Stewardship Award from the New Jersey Turfgrass Association.

Kim’s commitment to excellence and passion for community involvement has been recognized and demonstrated by the following: Outstanding Achievement Award Women of Color Technology All-Star; Nomination for Black Engineer of the Year Award (now Becoming Everything You Are - BEYA); “teamGM Everyone Plays a Role Recognition Award” in recognition of outstanding contribution to the GM vision as a volunteer on behalf of GM to A World In Motion (AWIM) – a charity effort to bring science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) into the nations through the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) as Building Coordinator for the DPSCD including Munger Elementary, Harms Elementary, Gompers Elementary, Golightly Elementary and Bagley Elementary; member of National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers and Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers; Easter Seals Miracle League of Michigan Parent/Volunteer; All Star Mom Award from Deeper Life Gospel Center and Licensed Minister; and, Family Victory Fellowship Ambassador Bible Training School – Instructor.
