Kristina Poberezhnaya is an alumna of Cass Technical High School and a first-generation college student who graduated with a Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Biomechanics in May 2021. During her undergraduate academic career, she was heavily involved with the Society of Women Engineers, leading the Wayne State Collegiate section as president for a year, along with other varying executive board positions. She has volunteered with local elementary and high schools to spark students’ enthusiasm for engineering and empower young women to pursue a STEM education. Kristina has also gained real-world experiences, shadowing medical professionals in Detroit, Michigan and in Zagreb, Croatia, laying the foundation to pursue her career aspirations in the medical device industry.
