Maryssa Weir earned both her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in Injury Biomechanics from Wayne State University. She was recently awarded an Injury Fellowship with the International Center for Automotive Medicine (ICAM) at the University of Michigan Medical School.

Ms. Weir is a lead front occupant Safety Performance Integration Engineer at General Motors and is Co-Chair of the senior-leadership sponsored cross-functional Safety Synergy Workgroup. She holds a DFSS Black Belt and is a Design Thinking Coach at GM. She also volunteers in the community as a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician with Safe Kids Worldwide.

Ms. Weir currently serves WSU as Chair of the Messaging & Visibility Taskforce on the Engineering Alumni Council and as an Industry Mentor to numerous engineering students. She also serves as a Leadership Coach with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Leadership Coaching Committee and is the immediate past-President of the SWE-Detroit Professional Section. She has been recognized as a New Emerging Leader in Technology and Engineering by the SWE Local Awards Committee.
