Tonya Whitehead

Dr. Tonya Whitehead has been the Associate Director of the Office for Teaching and Learning (OTL) since 2018 and a member of the Wayne State University since 2010. Her role involves collaborating with colleges and departments across campus. She also oversees OTL programming to ensure that it meets the needs of all instructors at WSU. She enjoys connecting directly with faculty, specifically working with large lecture faculty to expand the active learning and evidence-based pedagogy on campus that supports student success.

In addition to her role at the OTL. Dr. Whitehead has also taught courses in the College of Engineering since 2015 and conducted engineering education research. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, an MS in Manufacturing and Engineering Management, and a BS in Computer Engineering. Prior to coming to WSU she was working at a large computer services firm. In her free time, she volunteers with education and animal welfare groups around the state.
