Tracey Bagley-Reed, a product of the Detroit Public School System, attended Wayne State University on a 4-year merit scholarship. She completed a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in December 1992 and M.S. in Computer Engineering in 1998 from the College of Engineering. 

After receiving her undergraduate degree, she worked at Electronic Data Systems for 5 years and successfully completed the Engineering Systems Development Program.  She then went on to work for Motorola Automotive Industrial and Electronics Group for a year before leaving for General Motors where she has worked for the last 21 years.  While at GM, she has held various roles in software controls, systems integration, engineering, and safety.  During this time,  she received patents US, 8, 050,813, B2 Securing and Diagnosing the Vehicle Speed Input and Direction for Torque Controls Systems and US 8, 041,478, B2 Powertrain and Ignition Diagnostic System and Method for her contributions in developing embedded control software and algorithms. In 2015, Tracey was recognized by GM at the Women of Color Conference in Detroit as a Technology Rising Star in Engineering for outstanding achievement in both technology and community service. Currently, she is an Engineering Group Leader in the Global System Safety organization leading engineers in executing the GM Safety Process based on the functional safety standard ISO 26262.   Beyond leading her team, she supports the recruitment of engineers as the GM Functional Recruiting lead for Global Product Development Group at the National Society of Black Engineers Conference.  She also serves as a Small Group Mentor within the GM African American Ancestry Network (GMAAN). 

Outside of work, Tracey is an active and financial member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, a public service sorority where she has served as a past co-chair of the Detroit Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Gems, an outreach program to help African American young girls ages 14 – 18.  She is also a member of Triumph Church where she serves as a Youth Usher Leader.  Furthermore, she served as a Girl Scout Heart of Michigan Troop Leader from 2012- 2016.  She is proud to be in a family with Wayne State Warriors.  She is married to Terrance Reed who is a graduate of Wayne State College of Nursing, B.S 1993 and a M.S. 2014.  They have one daughter, Riley, who is a first-year medical student, Class of 2024 Wayne State School of Medicine.
