College of Engineering welcomes Turkish delegation to discuss future collaboration

PHOTO RELEASE (July 18, 2012) - The Wayne State University College of Engineering welcomed a delegation from Turkey yesterday to continue discussions on potential opportunities for collaboration in the areas of automotive engineering and education.

The visit began with a presentation by College of Engineering Dean Farshad Fotouhi in the college's Hall of Fame conference room. After the presentation, WSU Professors Naeim Henein, Marcis Jansons, Jerry Ku and Ming-Chia Lai provided lab tours to highlight some of the many automotive-related research projects currently being conducted at the college.

Members of the delegation included the governors of Duzce and Bolu, the chairman of Duzce Provincial Council, chairmen of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bolu, Duzce, Yalova and Sakarya, head of Monitoring and Evaluation Unit - East Marmara Development Agency, two agency specialists and two guides. Chicago Turkish Trade Commissioner Sevtap Akguloglu and Honorary Consul General Nurten Ural were also in attendance.

The visit was a result of a recent Turkey-Michigan forum, held in Istanbul, that was attended by approximately 50 Michigan business, university and government leaders. WSU Provost Ronald T. Brown, WSU Associate Vice President for Educational Outreach Ahmad Ezzeddine and Fotouhi attended both the conference in Turkey and yesterday's event.
