Denise Conti

a graduate student in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, has been named the recipient of the 2012 Ralph H. Kummler Award for Distinguished Achievement in Graduate Student Research. She has done groundbreaking research, under the tutelage of Prof. Sandro R. P. da Rocha, on developing novel polymeric nanocarries for the regional delivery of nucleic acids to the lungs. Her work was recently published in the Journal of Control Release. In her graduate career, she has published six journal articles and presented 15 conference papers. The award will be presented at the upcoming Honors Convocation.
