Hongen Tu

of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been named a recipient of the 2013 Ralph H. Kummler Award for Distinguished Achievement in Graduate Student Research. Hongen has done groundbreaking research, under the tutelage of Professor Yong Xu, on the development of novel flexible sensor/electronics technology that is compatible with the SOI (Silicon-in-Insulator)-CMOS process. His team won first prize ($50,000) in the 2012 Michigan Clean Energy Venture Challenge. Hongen coauthored nine journal articles, four conference papers, and two patent applications.
