Students take first place at UT-WSU Chemical Engineering Graduate Research Symposium

Over 30 Wayne State University students attended the third annual UT-WSU Chemical Engineering Graduate Research Symposium on May 25. This collaborative effort between Wayne State and the University of Toledo allows chemical engineering graduate students to present their ongoing research to peers, professors and industry professionals. Awards were given to the top three oral presentations and posters.

The symposium included keynote speeches from Javed Mapkar, the technology manager for the polymer and nanocomposites group at Eaton Corporate Research and Technology Centre, and Tony Frank, the global technology manager for the Lubrizol's Fuel group in Wickliffe, Ohio.

Over 20 Wayne State students competed at the symposium. Wayne State student Bingwen Wang won first place for his oral presentation. Sachith Vidanapathirana and Amin V. Shahvari won first and third place, respectively, for their posters.
