Two College of Engineering professors named IEEE Fellows
Two Wayne State University professors were named Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellows by the IEEE Board of Directors at its November 2015 meeting. Weisong Shi, professor of computer science, and Cheng-Zhong Xu, professor of electrical and computer engineering, were elevated to fellowship. Less than one tenth of a percent of voting members of IEEE are selected annually for Fellow status, which comes after a rigorous evaluation and making outstanding contributions to their fields.
Shi was recognized for contributions to distributed systems, a software system that helps multiple computers coordinate their actions, and internet computing. His research interests include distributed systems, edge computing, energy-efficient computer systems, and mobile and connected health.
