Wayne State faculty, alumni and students claimed many of the honors at ESD's annual Gold Awards banquet

Wayne State faculty, alumni and students claimed many of the honors at ESD's annual Gold Awards banquet held during Engineering Week 2005 on Feb. 23.

Carol Miller, professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was named Outstanding Engineer of the Year by the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers Detroit Chapter.
Donald J. Smolenski, MSChE79, PhD90, received ESD's Ann O. Fletcher Distinguished Service Award for 2005. Andrew Fadanelli, BSChE85, MSHWC94, received a Merit of Excellence Award from the American Polish Engineering Association where he as been very active since 1993 serving as secretary, vice president, and currently director. Tej B. Jhamb, MSIME74, received the Distinguished Service Award presented by the Institute of Industrial Engineers-Greater Detroit Chapter for his excellent contributions to the local chapter. Feng Bin, PhDMSE98, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers-Detroit Section Board for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the society. And Jessica Kelsch, BSChE02, MSChE03, received the Volunteer Award presented by the Society of Women Engineers for her work while a student at Wayne State.

Gary Altman, a student in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering's Production Management Leadership Program, received the Irv Otis Scholarship Award presented by the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Detroit Chapter.
