Biography

Professor Jayyousi is an educator in the field of computer science, currently serving as an Associate Professor of Teaching at Wayne State University. With over 12 years of academic experience, he specializes in Artificial Intelligence, focusing on its applications in various domains. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Wayne State University, where his dissertation explored using Cultural Algorithms to generate models of ancient urban centers. His co-authored paper was honored as the Best Paper at the 2013 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation conference. Recognized for his commitment to teaching excellence, Professor Jayyousi received the 2015 College of Engineering Outstanding Faculty Award. He plays a vital role in maintaining the quality of computer science education through graduate and undergraduate ABET assessments, overseeing curriculum evaluations and learning outcomes to ensure that programs meet high academic standards. Outside of academia, Professor Jayyousi is passionate about mentoring students and individuals pursuing careers in computer science. Through his guidance, he provides valuable advice, resources, and encouragement, helping them to develop their skills and knowledge in the field.
