The College of Engineering supports that mission through education, innovation and collaboration. We offer graduate students more than 30 graduate certificate, master's and doctoral programs across eight departments and two interdisciplinary programs. Our students learn from and collaborate with nationally and globally renowned faculty experts and industry leaders, helping to improve quality of life in Detroit and around the world.
The Graduate School at Wayne State provides leadership in advancing graduate education and cultivates a supportive environment for research, scholarly activities and other creative endeavors that are integral to successful graduate students and faculty members.
Admission requirements
To apply, you must meet both the general admission requirements of the Graduate School and the specific criteria listed on the individual graduate program page within the relevant department.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for admission to the Fall or Winter terms.
Application fees are waived for the winter 2025, spring/summer 2025 and fall 2025 terms.
MS priority deadlines
Fall (begins in August): July 15
Winter (begins in January): November 1
Spring/Summer (Spring begins in May; Summer begins in June): February 1
PhD priority deadlines
Fall (begins in August)- March 1
Winter (begins in January) - October 1
Spring/Summer (Spring begins in May; Summer begins in June) - Case by case review, but preferred no later than March 1.
