International students

    Electrical Engineering

As of fall 2024, the college enrolled 139 international undergraduate students and 333 international graduate students from 36 countries -- all of whom can seek educational, cultural and social support and assistance from the university's Office of International Students and Scholars as well as language assistance from the English Language Institute, the only intensive English language program in the metropolitan Detroit area.

All international applicants are required to submit a qualifying TOEFL or IELTS score and a WES Evaluation.

    3+2 program

Through the college's 3+2 program, international students can earn both a bachelor's degree from their home institution and a master's degree from Wayne State University in just five years. Students spend three years studying at their home institution and then complete a Master of Science in Engineering during their fourth and fifth years at Wayne State.

    Deadlines

Please note that the deadlines for international students (both graduate and undergraduate) are different than domestic students in order to allow for visa processing. International students currently in the U.S. may have a shorter visa processing time.

    Inside the U.S.?

    Please follow the deadlines below:

Fall (begins in August): June 1
Winter (begins in January): October 1
Spring/Summer (Spring begins in May; Summer begins in June): February 1

    Outside the U.S.?

    Please follow the deadlines below:

Fall (begins in August): May 15
Winter (begins in January): October 1
Spring/Summer (Spring begins in May; Summer begins in June): January 1

Processing of completed applications received after these dates cannot be guaranteed to occur on a schedule that will allow a student to obtain their visa in time for the semester.

Please contact an engineering graduate program coordinator for more information on the graduate application and deadline process. Undergraduates should contact an undergraduate advisor for more information on the undergraduate application and deadline process.

The industry is becoming increasingly diversified, which is great. I knew that I wanted to learn in a diverse environment, and that’s part of the reason I chose to study at Wayne State.
