Civil and Environmental Engineering

Athanacios Nasr received a PhD in civil engineering from Wayne State in 1986. After receiving a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Alexandria, Egypt in 1974, Athanacios was an assistant professor there while studying for his master's degree, which he received in 1980. Upon arriving in the United States, he has been an adjunct and assistant professor of civil engineering at the University of Detroit, the University of Windsor, Lawrence Tech University, and Wayne State.

In 1984, he joined Giffels Associates, Inc. as a structural engineer in its Advanced Technology Department. In 1988 he joined Desai/Nasr Consulting Engineers, Inc. as a structural engineer. Four years later, he was named vice president and principal structural engineer. Athanacios is the recipient of the Best Teaching Assistant of Civil Engineering award at Wayne State.
