Thomas A. Amato is president & CEO of Metaldyne, LLC, a global supplier of engine, transmission, and driveline products for the automotive and truck markets. Metaldyne has over 4,000 employees operating from 25 locations in 13 countries and is principally owned by American Securities LLC, a leading private equity firm. Mr. Amato is responsible for the performance and strategic direction of Metaldyne and its four operating divisions.
Mr. Amato started his career in 1991 with Imperial Chemical Industries, a multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company, where he was a group leader responsible for introducing new polyurethane-based products into automotive and non-automotive market segments. He later joined MascoTech, a metal forming and diversified industrial products supplier, completing numerous business and corporate development projects. In 2000, MascoTech became Metaldyne where Mr. Amato served in a number of executive roles, ultimately being appointed Metaldyne’s chief executive officer in late 2007.
Mr. Amato holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Wayne State University (1986), a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and took executive leadership courses at the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
