Industry-led project courses
Hands-on learning is one of the key practices encouraged at the College of Engineering. Working on a small team with an industry partner to solve a real-world issue is mutually beneficial to both students and company. Applying lessons learned in the classroom prepares students to succeed on the job. At the same time, companies recive the benefit of solutions to current, real challenges.
The process begins when an industry partner identifies a research topic and students register for a 1-credit "student team course" with the company's point-of-contact as the instructor.
Project proposals include:
- A description of the project/problem
- The type and format of the expected deliverable
- Whether the project will be in a campus lab or at industry location
- The expected time commitment from the student/s and company
